Authorities Eye Arson As Cause of South Gate Vehicle Fire

No injuries were reported.

The South Gate Police Department (SGPD) has told Patch that a recent vehicle fire on 11900 Garfield Avenue is being investigated as a potential arson incident. Authorities responded to the incident at around 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 28.

“The Los Angeles County Fire department (LACoFD) was on scene prior to our arrival and had already extinguished it,” said Sgt. Christopher Dahlia of the SGPD, who described the vehicle as a pickup truck. “The fire department deemed the fire suspicious so we took an arson report.”

The LACoFD is handling the ongoing investigation.
