Two Injured in South Gate Commercial Fire

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

SOUTH GATE (CNS) - Two people were injured today in a fire at a South Gate manufacturing company.

Firefighters sent to General Veneer Manufacturing at 8562 Otis St. shortly before 1 p.m. quickly gained the upper hand on the flames, which damaged a hopper that had sawdust in it, county fire Inspector Tony Imbrenda said.

There was no immediate word about the severity of the injuries. General Veneer specializes in lightweight panels used in the aircraft industry.Some firefighters remained on scene dousing hot spots, Imbrenda said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
