4th of July Spectacular: Celebration at Lynwood City Park includes: Carnival, face painting, rock-climbing, music and an array of food vendors! Admission is FREE!!!

LYNWOOD, CA – With a “Say No To Illegal Fireworks Campaign” in tow, the City of Lynwood is gearing up to host its annual 4th of July Spectacular in hopes of encouraging the public to leave the pyrotechnics up to the professionals and come out and enjoy a fireworks show that only Lynwood knows how to put on.

While 11 Safe & Sane Fireworks Stands were approved by the City Council last month, the City of Lynwood and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Century Station have taken a zero-tolerance stance on the discharge and possession of illegal fireworks. Possession fines start at $250. Discharging fines start at $500 and fines for the sale of illegal fireworks start at $1,000.

City officials are encouraging the public to leave the pyrotechnics up to the professionals on 4th of July. “There’s no need to be setting off these illegal fireworks,” said Deborah Jackson, Director of the Public Relations Department. “Illegal fireworks are dangerous and they are against the law for a reason. Illegal fireworks affect the City’s quality of life. They are very disruptive and can cause damage or hurt or kill someone. The City puts on a fireworks display for the community in hopes that they stay away from purchasing or discharging illegal fireworks.”

With nearly 8,000 people expected to attend, this year’s 4th of July Spectacular will include carnival-like festivities that begin at 3 p.m. at Lynwood City Park. The fireworks display starts at approximately 9 p.m. Music will be playing throughout the day throughout the park and carnival. Attendees will be treated to free face painting, balloon makers, a rock-climbing wall, rides, games, and food vendors.

The community is invited to bring their lawn chairs, blankets, picnic baskets, etc. to Lynwood City Park during the day. However, fireworks – even if they are Safe & Sane Fireworks – will not be allowed in the park.
