End of Summer Street Fair & Classic Car Show

Festival of the Taco

Added to City of Lynwood’s

2nd Annual Street Fair & Classic Car Show

The City of Lynwood is once again joining efforts with the new Greater Lynwood Chamber of Commerce to shut down a portion of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard this weekend to host their Second Annual Street Fair & Classic Car Show and Carnival.

Taking place Sept. 19-22 along Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, between Bullis Road and Hulme Avenue, this huge end of summer carnival seems to be getting bigger and bigger with every year that passes by. Along with a Classic Car & Bike Show, games, rides, live entertainment – including La Sonora de Siempre, Lalo and His Grupo Swing, Ballet Tolteca and Grupo Kumbia Bellas – and an array of vendor and food booths, this year’s Street Fair & Classic Car Show will also include a brand new Festival of the Taco.

The Car Show will feature more than 50 classic cars and custom motorcycles, low riders, hot rods and off-road trucks. “We look at these events as a way of bringing the community together for family time,” said Jose Trejo, Deputy Director of the City’s Recreation and Community Services Department. “We’ve had different festivals over the years, but this one might be the biggest. What we strive for in every one of our City festivals is to make sure that there’s a little bit of everything for everyone.” Trejo said that he anticipates more than 5,000 people coming out to enjoy the weekend at the City’s end of summer carnival. While a percentage of the funds raised during this Street Fair & Classic Car Show will once again be going toward the City’s Save the Christmas Parade Campaign, Trejo said his and his staff’s biggest priority is to make sure that Lynwood families, and families from nearby cities, come out and enjoy a day in the City of Lynwood. “It’s all about keeping our families together,” Trejo added.
