Annual Toy Drive at South Gate Park to Include Beatles Tribute Band

The toy drive and live performance will be held Saturday during the city's annual 'Family Day at the Park.'

South Gate Park will be filled with an array of entertainment, Saturday, as the city prepares to host its 17th annual "Family Day at the Park' as well as a "Concert in the Park" which will include a Beatles tribute band, The Walrus. 

The band will be performing as the city's police department will be hosting its 19th annual toy drive as part of its Santa-Cop Program.

According to the city's website, "the South Gate Police Department in partnership with the Police Officers' Association and Police Volunteers through the Santa-Cop Program have provided low income families with toys to celebrate the holiday season."

The police department is asking for donations of new, unwrapped toys with a value of at least ten dollars.

The performance and toy drive will be taking place Saturday, Oct. 13 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The band will be performing at the new bandstand in the park which was recently built with the help of federal grants. 

The city's 'Family Day in the Park" will take place between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will include game and food booths, free check-ups and health information.
