Comedy Show To Take Place

The first comedy show benefiting the Miss South Gate Pageant is scheduled this Friday.

On Friday, the will present the first “Latino Comedy Fiesta!” The event is a fundraiser to cover costs and scholarships associated with the . The chamber hopes that residents of South Gate and surrounding cities will attend the family event. 

“The most important thing for us is to be able to provide wholesome entertainment for the family,” said Ernesto Gritzewsky, a comedian better known as “Ernie G.” He will be the main act of the comedy show that will also include comedians Noe Gonzalez and Juan Garcia.

The chamber chose Ernie G. because of his clean comedy. “You don’t have to curse to be funny,” said the comedian.

His empowerment message for youth also appealed to the chamber.

“[Ernie G] is a Latino motivational comic who targets the youth,” said , executive director of the South Gate Chamber of Commerce. “His comedy is lighthearted and he knows the struggles of the youth who come from economically disadvantaged areas.”

Ernie G. said he is excited to support the pageant and engage with local youth.

“I think God put me on the planet to celebrate Latino excellence,” Ernie G. “I want to celebrate all the amazing students that come out of South Gate and neighboring communities.”

The fundraiser will also feature the appearance of a secret celebrity.

“I can’t say who it is,” said Ernie G.

Organizers want residents to enjoy the show and support the women participating in the Miss South Gate pageant, which aims to help contestants achieve their academic and professional goals.

During the pageant, the contestants will “become more confident and improve [their] communications skills,” said Salazar. “All together, it can be a life-altering experience.”

The event will take place from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday at the South Gate Auditorium at . Presale tickets are available until 2 p.m. on Friday and cost $10 for general admission and $20 for a VIP ticket, which includes access to a pre-gathering event with comedians. General admission tickets at the door will cost $15 each.
