Veterans, local politicians and residents all gathered at South Gate Park / Veteranos, políticos locales, y residentes se reunieron en el parque de South Gate
The city of South Gate commemorated Memorial Day by hosting a ceremony at South Gate Park. The event included veterans from World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Gulf War. The event included short speeches from local politicians, as well as veterans and music from the South Gate High School band.
Local resident and Vietnam War veteran, Nicholas Godoy, performed as the master of ceremonies, and reminded attendees of the importance of remembering those who perished while defending the United States.

“We should remember all those who sacrificed their lives,” said Godoy. “We are the lucky ones who came back.”

La ciudad de South Gate conmemoró el Día de los Caídos (Memorial Day) al organizar una ceremonia en el parque de South Gate. El evento incluyó a veteranos de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, La Guerra de Corea, La Guerra de Vietnam, y la Guerra del Golfo. El evento incluyó discursos cortos de políticos locales así como de veteranos y música por parte de la banda de la preparatoria de South Gate.
Nicolás Godoy, residente local y veterano de la Guerra de Vietnam, fungió como maestro de ceremonias, y le recordó a los asistentes la importancia de recordar aquellos que han caído al defender a Estados Unidos.
“Debemos recordar a aquellos que sacrificaron sus vidas”, dijo Godoy. “Somos los afortunados que regresamos”.
