UPDATE: LASD Deputies On The Lookout for Suspect With ‘Handgun’ in Lynwood

Update: 12:33 p.m. 

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s  (LASD) Century Sheriff's station has informed Patch that the deputies were not able to apprehend the suspect. 

No more information was provided on the matter.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s (LASD) is currently searching for a suspect who fled from a deputy and is believed to be armed.

“A deputy was on patrol and saw a person fleeing,” said a watch commander on duty at the LASD’s Century Sheriff’s station. “He appeared to be holding a handgun.”

Officers have been looking for the suspect in the area between Los Flores Boulevard and Wright Road in Lynwood since 12:30 a.m.  A helicopter was also used at the beginning of the search.

“They should be breaking it down pretty soon,” said the watch commander. “The deputies are on foot right now.”
