The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) has told Patch that they are currently on the lookout for an allegedly armed suspect that fled from deputies near the Century Regional Detention Center in Lynwood.

This incident was brought to our attention by a Patch reader who witnessed deputies and a helicopter carrying out a search in an area near to the aforementioned police structure at around 7:00 p.m.

“It is an ongoing investigation and they are still over there,” said a watch sergeant on duty from the LASD's Century Sheriff’s Station. “ They have the area contained and they are still searching for the person.”

The actual area in question is located between Mona Boulevard and Wilmington Avenue,  which is part the unincorporated area of Willowbrook, and not Lynwood.

Patch will provide updates on this situation as soon as they become available.
