“Our goal is not to punish business owners but to have them comply with existing rules related to their alcohol license,” said Chief Randy Davis of the SGPD.

The grant will be used to decrease sales of alcoholic beverages to minors by targeting the locations where this occurs. The enforcement of public intoxication violations, possession of drugs and their sale of illegal drugs will also be targeted.

The grant combines the efforts of SGPD officers and ABC agents.

“The program improves the quality of life in neighborhoods,” said Jacob Appelsmith, Director of the ABC. “We’ve seen a real difference in the communities where the grant program resources have been invested.”

Residents who wish to know more about the grant are encouraged to contact Lieutenant Jim Teeples of the SGPD at (323) 563-5457.
