Small Brush Fire in South Gate Under Investigation

The South Gate Police Department (SGPD) has informed Patch that a small brush fire was put out south of the Target Store on Garfield Avenue.
“[It]was primarily brush, and there was no damage to either Target or any of the surrounding buildings,” said Chief of Police Randy Davis. “It was extinguished in pretty short order.”

According to Davis, the fire took place between 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2013.  The SGPD and the the Los Angeles County Fire Department  (LAcoFD) are investigating the causes of the fire and have not ruled out any possibility.

“We do have some potential surveillance evidence that we are going to be looking at for any suspect information,” said Davis. “We are looking at everything to really rule out whether it was arson.”
