Tweedy Mile Street Fair To Take Place This Weekend

By Patch Staff

The Tweedy Mile Association (TMA), a local merchants association, in conjunction with the City of South Gate, will host the 23rd annual Tweedy Mile Street Fair from Friday, May 31, to Sunday, June 2nd.

The annual fair will take place between on South Gate’s Tweedy Boulevard from California Avenue to Alexander Street. Organizer’s are expecting anywhere between 250,000 to 300,000 people from Southeast Los Angeles and beyond.

“With the small town flair in the middle of urban sprawl, the Fair offers a safe family environment,” said the TMA in a statement.

Carnival rides, live entertainment, food from around the world, a petting zoo, along with arts and crafts will be readily available for visitors to enjoy during the three day fiesta.

The popular event is also a tool aimed at bettering the commerce conditions in Tweedy Boulevard, the downtown business district of South Gate.
