Is Messi the greatest soccer player ever? - with so many players having played the game through out the years, is it safe to call him the greatest of all time?
So I am watching Messi score 5 goals in a Champions League match, and all we heard after that was: "Messi is the greatest player ever!"
This got me thinking about some of the greatest soccer (futbol) players of all time. To think about some of the great players: Pele, Maradona, Hugo Sanchez, Rinus Michels, Johan Cruyff, and even older players, like Garrincha and Alfredo Di Stefano.

All have brought something to the game to make it beautiful, and with younger players now bigger and stronger (and richer), players like Beckham, Thierry Henry, Ronaldo, Kaka, and Rooney (along with others) have also added so much.
Giving Messi the title of greatest ever, would take away from what everyone has brought to the game, from previous generations, to generations to come.

To call him a great player would be more appropriate and a better compliment, as he stands next to his peers, having been lucky enough to play a game that we all love, while also leaving such a drastic impact on the game.
