City of Lynwood Hosts Halloween Costume Ball to Benefit its Save the Christmas Parade Campaign

Who said it can't be Christmas on Halloween? In an effort to save the City's annual Candy Cane Lane Christmas Parade, there will be a hint of it this year on Halloween.

LYNWOOD, CA – Who said it can’t be Christmas on Halloween? In an effort
to save the City’s annual Candy Cane Lane Christmas Parade, there will be a
hint of Christmas present this year on Halloween in the City of Lynwood. For
the first time, City Council Members last week unanimously voted to approve a
Halloween Costume Ball/Dance for Oct. 26 to specifically benefit the City’s
beloved Christmas parade.

Set to take place at Bateman Hall, the Halloween Costume Ball is expected to
generate at least $10,000 to go towards the costs of reinstating the city’s
annual holiday parade.

Budget cuts this year affected several city-sponsored events, including the city’s
annual July 4th Spectacular Fireworks Show. Unfortunately, the City’s
annual holiday parade, along with the city’s popular Winter Wonderland
festivities, have been affected as well.

But there’s still time to save the parade. Along with sponsorships and donations,
City Officials are looking to reinstate the Christmas parade with a few
supplemental events, such as the City's recent Street Fair, Classic Car and Bike Show/End of Summer Carnival, and now with the Halloween Ball.

Tickets for the upcoming Halloween Costume Ball will be sold for $25 each for persons wearing costumes and $35 for non-costumed persons. Corporate sponsors would be allowed to purchase a table of 10 for $250.

Along with being a fundraiser, this event supports the important public purpose of
providing social interaction among Lynwood residents while providing a civic
and community oriented program that can be enjoyed by Lynwood residents and
business owners.
