Alleged Kidnapper Arrested in Maywood

Jaci Barragon, who is accused of kidnapping a South Gate woman and escaping from custody in Malibu, was on the run since early Monday.

An alleged kidnapper, who escaped arrest in Malibu and has been on the run since early Monday, was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon after barricading himself inside a Maywood home.

Jaci Barragon, who is on parole, is accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting his ex-girlfriend and stealing a car, which was spotted by a Los Angeles Sheriff's Department deputy just before 2 a.m. Monday on Pacific Coast Highway at Corral Canyon Road in Malibu.

The escape occurred shortly before 2 a.m. Monday as a deputy went to investigate a Nissan Sentra parked on the side of the road. The deputy handcuffed one hand and as he was trying to restrain the other, Barragon was able to break away, injuring the deputy and prompting a massive manhunt.

The ex-girflirend was believed to have been kidnapped in her South Gate home.

Earlier Tuesday afternoon, Barragon barricaded himself in a home in Maywood, a small city near Huntington Park, and was taken into custody, according to Nicole Nishida, a spokeswoman for the sheriff's department.

Deputies from the sheriff's Parole Compliance Team obtained a warrant to enter the home on 60th Street and Atlantic Boulevard in Maywood, and made contact with Barragon, who refused to come out, Nishida said.

A nearby school and church were placed on lockdown.

A SWAT Team responded to the home and went in to arrest Barragon about 5:30 p.m., she said. He was not wearing the handcuff.

There were no injuries during the arrest on Tuesday.

One of the critics say the movie is set to modern music. I will not watch if this is true. TheRead More 1920's music is 1/2 of what made the Gatsby's memorable. Modern music will take away from the story of Scott Fitgerald's generation.
