Century Sheriff's Station to Host Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

The event is part of the DEA's national "Take-Back Initiative," which the agency says has netted tons of potentially dangers prescription drugs since it started.

Century Sheriff's Station in Lynwood will partner with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in its fifth National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Century Station officials announced.  

Area residents will be able to drop off their unwanted drugs at the Century Station - 11703 Alameda Street in Lynwood.

Unwanted prescription drugs can be brought on September 29th, and every day, to any of Los Angeles Sheriff's stations listed.

At the DEA’s last take-back event on April 28, citizens nationwide turned in a record-breaking 552,161 pounds (276 tons) of unwanted or expired medications for safe and proper disposal at the 5,659 take-back sites that were available in all 50 states and U.S. territories, according to the DEA. 

There have been four Take-Back Days to date that have removed over 1.5 million pounds (774 tons) of medication from circulation thanks to the DEA and its state, local, and tribal law-enforcement and community partners.
