Lanes Reopened on I-710 After Accident

An overturned big rig led to the closure of northbound traffic lanes on the I-710. Two lanes are still closed.

Two of the four northbound lanes of the Long Beach (710) Freeway remained closed this morning as Caltrans crews worked to clean up asphalt that spilled from a big rig when it landed on its side in a multi-vehicle collision.

The crash just north of Firestone Boulevard was reported at 8:38 p.m. Monday, authorities said. Hot asphalt spilled across all northbound lanes of the freeway, according to broadcast reports.

Three people were taken to a hospital with minor injuries, said Andre Gougis, a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher.

All lanes on the northbound side of the freeway were closed at Firestone
Boulevard until about 6 a.m. today, when the two left lanes were reopened,
according to California Highway Patrol Officer Francisco Villalobos.

The two right lanes and the Firestone Boulevard onramp remained closed, he said.
