MALIBU (CNS) - Authorities today sought a man who allegedly kidnapped his ex-girlfriend from her South Gate-area home, sexually assaulted her, and then fled when deputies tried to arrest him in Malibu.

J.C. Barragon, 32, (Or Jaycee Barragon) escaped while a deputy was handcuffing him around 1 a.m., said sheriff's Sgt. Anthony Arnold of the Malibu/Lost Hills Station.

Deputies established a perimeter in the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Corral Canyon Road and sought the suspect, said Deputy Irys Alvarez of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

According to the preliminary investigation, deputies were patrolling in the area when saw a parked vehicle with fogged-up windows and stopped to investigate, Arnold said.

"They contacted the driver, and at some point they learned that the
vehicle was reported stolen,'' Arnold said.

A deputy managed to place a handcuff on Barragon's right wrist, but there was a struggle and Barragon ran away, Arnold said. He was described a Hispanic, about 5 feet 8, 145 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. The deputy was treated for a hand injury.

A woman in the vehicle was at first thought to be a possible suspect, but investigators later determined she had been kidnapped from her home in the South Gate area and sexually assaulted, Arnold said.

Anyone seeing Barragon was urged to call the sheriff's department.
