Violent Fight Leaves Two Wounded

The incident took place on California Avenue.

Last night, August 19, 2012, at approximately 8:12 p.m. the South Gate Police Department (SGPD) responded to a call of shots fired on 9652 California Avenue.  Upon arriving to the area they found a stabbing and a gunshot victim.

“It appears multiple subjects were involved in a fight,” said Sergeant Tim Williams of the SGPD. “A white vehicle was seen leaving the area.”

The SGPD found the first injured party from the alleged fight at 9532 California Avenue. This victim was described as a 17-year-old resident from Lynwood with a stabbing wound to the stomach.

The second victim was found at 9632 California Avenue. The police described this victim as a 17-year-old South Gate resident with a gunshot wound to his wrist.

“Due to the victims and witnesses being uncooperative there is no further information at this time,” said the Sgt. Williams.
