Woman Commits 'Suicide' in Lynwood Jail

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A woman charged with drowning her daughters in a bathtub last year committed suicide while jailed in Lynwood, authorities said today.

Lorna Valle, 33, was found dead Feb. 23 at the Century Regional Detention Facility in the 11000 block of South Alameda Street, coroner's Chief Craig Harvey said.

Her death was ruled a suicide, and the cause was "asphyxia,'' Harvey said. He declined to elaborate.

Valle was charged with murder in the deaths of her 1-year-old daughter, Lindsay, and 5-year-old daughter, Marian, who was on life support about a week before her death.

The girls' father came home about 7:30 a.m. on Feb. 15, 2012 and found his daughters unclothed, wet and unresponsive on the floor, police said at the time. The family lived in the in the 900 block of West 50th Place.
