I-5 to be Completely Closed Tonight

The freeway will be closed overnight, from both directions, between Valley View Avenue and Carmenita Road.

The California Department of Transportation will shut down the Santa Ana Freeway (I-5) from 11:45 p.m. tonight to 4 a.m. tomorrow due to construction projects. All northbound traffic will be diverted to Valley View Avenue and all going southbound will be re-routed at Carmenita Road. 

On-ramps at Valley View Avenue, Alondra Boulevard and Carmenita Road will be closed tonight between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following day.

The maintenance work being done will include the re-striping of lanes, the introduction of a new car pool lane, one general-purpose lane, and the reconstruction of over crossings, among other things.

More nightly closures of I-5 will occur on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. all three days, between Valley View Avenue and Carmenita Road.
