New Mayor and Vice-Mayor To be Appointed

Today’s meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. and will take up several topics of interest to South Gate. Here are  four of the most important happenings on the agenda:

1. The City Council will select a new Mayor and Vice-Mayor for the city of South Gate and will hold their oaths of office. 
2. The City Council will also appoint councilmembers and city officials to serve as the representative of South Gate in the boards of Outside Agencies. All appointments will be ratified by the a majority vote by the City Council.
3. The City Council will consider adopting resolution that would approve the filing of an application for the grant programs of the Los Angeles County Regional Park the Open Space District. The latters grant money would be used for the upgrade the parks auditorium. 
4. The City Council will also consider adopting resolution approving the filing of an application from the aforementioned grant programs for the purpose of building a dog park.
5. The City Council will present a certificate of appreciation to Maria Navarro for being awarded the 2012 Women of Distinction of the 50th assembly district  for her service in the community. 

Resident who wish to speak on a topic during the meeting should arrive early and speak at the allotted times.
