South Gate Council Approves Space For CSU Northridge Masters Program

The South Gate City Council unanimously approved an agreement that would allow California State University - Northridge to use the city’s Civic Center Main Hall for an online/hybrid MPA Degree Program.

“This agreement is intended to benefit the employees and residents of the city of South Gate by providing access to an accredited MPA program locally,” said the staff report. “No similar program is being offered within the City’s borders.”

CSU Northridge will pay a yearly fee of $5000 for its use of city space. 

Councilmembers and city staff applauded Carmen Avalos, South Gate city clerk, for her role in bringing the program.

“She singlehandedly carried this entire project forward,” confessed Mike Flad, South Gate’s city manager. “Future generations, that are going to be able to get their masters and bachelor degrees in South Gate, have you to thank.”

Classes for the program will begin on August 22nd.
