South Gate Denies Claim from Person Involved in Traffic Accident

The city has rejected the claim of Wendy Palencia.

The city of South Gate has denied a tort claim, a first step prior to bringing a lawsuit against the city, made by Wendy Palencia, who on March 16th was involved in a car accident on California Avenue and Firestone Boulevard.

Claimed injuries from this accident and the involvement of a city employee were cited in the tort.

“The claim alleges that Ms. Palencia suffered injury as a result of a car accident in which a city employee was involved,” said Raul Salinas, South Gate’s City Attorney. “[The city] has denied the claim at this point.”

The South Gate City Council unanimously denied the claim in the interests of the city.

“We were unanimous in protecting the city’s interest,” said South Gate Mayor Bill De Witt.
