South Gate Municipal Elections: Unofficial Results

The certification of the election is expected to take two weeks.

The South Gate City Clerk's office released the unofficial results of Tuesday's municipal elections. Both incumbents, Mayor Bill De Witt and Vice-Mayor Gil Hurtado, showed comfortable lead over their challenger, Ricardo Reyes.

The clerk's office will continue to count several provisional ballots, votes by mail that were recently received, as well as mail ballots that were dropped off at various polling locations, that have as of yet to be counted.

Carmen Avalos, South Gate City Clerk, told Patch that the election still needed to be certified after provisional ballots are verified by Los Angeles County Registrar. Therefore, residents should expect an official tally in two weeks.
