Go to many markets even Trader Joes and you will find most fruits and vegetables are from Mexico and…Read More other Countries already and are being shipped to California and not grown here and we are being charged the same. Our middle class blue and white collar jobs will be taken by people not here legally getting a free education including the free college now being offered, while our own legally documented citizens will end up being the farmers struggling to survive. This is the tail chasing the horse.

Thanks Loraine. I passed by it the other day and said uh oh. Thanks for correcting me. I thought…Read More sure this was an Albertsons. So we are back to the suggestion by Roger from San Pedro. Let's get a Von's, Albertson's or Stater Brothers.

This is something close to my home and my neighbors have been inquiring about the strange goings on…Read More at Center and Industrial Streets, but it turns out our South Gate Police Dept. took their time and have been monitoring this business for a long time. KUDO'S to them for their due diligence and to the South Gate PATCH for reporting it. Now if I could just get my grandaughter to stop going to those RAVE concerts all would be right with the world.

Humanely or humanly? Are you considering euthanasia as an alternative?

I personally don't go to this event but I hear from the Community year after year at Public Meetngs,…Read More that they enjoy getting together with their Neighbors while walking Tweedy and taking advantage of the activities and buying opportunities involved. Maybe Tweedy Mile could cut the hours a little more and ask for only an addition of $10,000 instead of the additional $20,000 they are requesting this year for Police Security. A lot of people say we should let Tweedy Mile Swing-in-the-Wind, (and sometimes in the same breath condemning Walmart) but come on folks, this is not humanely feasible.

I agree with Tony Morales, why are we giving money to TMA? If this event cannot sustain itself and…Read More TMA cannot sustain it then maybe we should do without the street fair and concentrate on spending the $20,000 on the task of keeping the streets clean on a daily basis.

I agree with the rest of the people here 100%.
“I don’t want to know a South Gate…Read More without the Tweedy Mile Street Fair,” said councilmember Jorge Morales, who along with councilmember Maria Davila, suggested the possibility of meeting the TMA’s request halfway.”
With all my respect, both need to figure out how to spend our money more efficiently. I for sure can survive without a fair and so does my family.
And just to make sure I'm clear with my comment, I don’t have problems with fairs, but aren’t we supposed to be on a budget?
I think this kind of decisions are not made in the best interest of our community
