City Hall is situated near the center of South Gate.  City Hall is a government facility that houses a number of departments, including Public Works, Business License and Community Development. The City Manager is also located on site, as is the City Council, Mayor and the City Clerk. The large building with Roman pillars features a time capsule just outside the front doors. Inside the walls are lined with city history and displays by local artists and students.  City Council Meetings are held every Tuesday and Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers.
